Jak zbrojit s rozumem? Odstrašování, spolupráce, budování kapacit, odolnost
23.04.2025

In the current international situation, shaped on the one hand by the Russian imperialist threat and on the other by the pressure from Washington to re-define the defence cooperation in Europe, building our military capacities as well as strengthening regional alliances become a topic of the day.
How to build a defence potential that would deter the aggressor, how to use wisely the expected financial injections into the defence sector, how to prepare the society to the necessary changes and – last but not least – how to re-conceive our regional and transatlantic cooperation.
Poland, as a country which plays a pivotal role in the defence system of the Eastern flank of NATO and managed in the recent years to increase significantly its defence spendings, can provide an interesting stimulus to the Czech debate on those topics.
Our main guests will be:
Tomasz Szatkowski, former Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Poland responsible for international relations (2015-2019) and Polish ambassador to NATO (2019-2024). Currently, he is the advisor to President Andrzej Duda.
Jan Jireš, Director General of the Defence Policy and Strategy Division of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic.
Moderated by Daniel Koštoval.
The event takes place in cooperation with Instytut Sobieskiego, Warsaw-based think tank who has recently published a concise report Jak uzbroić polską armię (How to Arm Polish Army). Tomasz Szatkowski is one of the authors of the report.
