State Priorities in Energy Sector in the Near Term
November 2, 2021
Another invitation-only expert debate focusing on critical challenges of the Czech energy sector took place on November 2. Vladimír Dlouhý, President of The Czech Chamber of Commerce, and Jiří Feist, Strategy Director of EP Energy, opened the discussion with their remarks.
State priorities in energy in the near term was the main focus of this round of our debate cycle. Participants agreed that devising real energetic mix scenarios until 2030 is the main task for the upcoming government. The government also needs to reinforce and increase the Czech representation in the EU and accelerate in readiness for the EU Presidency in 2022, in which energy and energy security should play a key role. Participants of the debate agreed that the critical goal is to include nuclear energy in the framework of the European taxonomy.
An agreement was also reached on a need for a more efficient state administration and on an improvement of the ability of the Czech Republic to draw on Union funding and operational programs focused on balancing Europe’s path to decarbonization.
More than 20 experts from the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, governmental agencies, and high-ranking managers of private energy companies and consulting companies took part in the debate organized by PCTR.
